2024 SUMMER ALGEBRA INSTITUTE (SAI)

In Partnership w/ CSU, This course will prepare youth for 6th thru 12th Grade Math
Classes will include multiplication table & addition/subtraction drills, number sense drill, fractions & decimals and basic math equation and problem solving. In addition, the instructor will regularly drill in basic math skills that were underdeveloped during the pandemic.

Foundational Math (Pre-Algebra)
Monday — Thursday
4:30 p.m. — 6:00 p.m.
This course will prepare youth for 6th and 7th Grade Math. This will include multiplication table and addition/ subtraction drills, number sense drill, fractions & decimals and basic math equation and problem solving. In addition, the instructor will regularly drill in basic math skills that were underdeveloped during the pandemic.
Algebra Prep
Monday — Thursday
4:30 p.m. — 6:00 p.m.
This course will prepare youth for a Fall 2024-Spring 2025. Algebra or Integrated 1 Math Course. The instructor will regularly drill in basic math skills that were underdeveloped during the pandemic. In addition, instructors will use real life examples to make the topics appealing and to promote learning. Major topics to be covered will be: Basic Operation and Math facts skills review; 1, 2 and 3 step equations solving, functions and relations, linear functions, quadratic functions graphing, basic exponent rules, Introduction to plane geometry with Algebra applications.
Advanced Algebra Prep (Algebra II)
Monday — Thursday
6:10 p.m. — 7:40 p.m.
This course will prepare youth for a Fall 2024-Spring 2025. Algebra or Integrated 2 Math Course. The instructor will regularly drill in math skills that were underdeveloped during the pandemic. In addition, instructors will use real life examples to make the topics appealing and to promote learning. Major topics to be covered will be: Solving linear equations, solving quadratic equations, graphing linear and quadratic functions, systems of equations, SAT Math solving techniques (The Princeton ReviewTM-based), advanced exponents, word problems, basic trigonometry.
Geometry Prep
Monday — Thursday
6:10 p.m. — 7:40 p.m.
This course will prepare youth for a Fall 2024-Spring 2025 Geometry Course. The instructor will regularly drill in basic math skills that were underdeveloped during the pandemic. In addition, instructors will use real life examples to make the topics appealing and to promote learning. The major topics will be: Lines, Planes, Angles, supplementary and complementary angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Basic Proofs, Special Right Triangles and more as time requires.
