Colleges Are Dropping SAT Requirement! Should You Still Take It?
Since CSU and UC are NOT even reading SAT Scores during the admissions review process: If your youth is applying to CSU and/or UC ONLY....there is no need to take the SAT. …
The same is true for many public universities in the West, such as Boise State University or the University of Nevada Reno.
However, if your youth has a 3-Year Unweighted GPA above 3.5, it may allow for a more affordable admission to Private Colleges and HBCUs (Black PRIVATE Colleges) if there is a highest SAT of at least 550 on Verbal and 550 on math. The higher the GPA and/or SAT, the more $$$ in Merit Scholarship from the college or university.
For GPAs below 3.5, students scoring very high on the SAT will not receive a high enough merit award to make the college affordable since the GPA (generally) is high enough to admit, but not high enough to secure a merit award.
