The West Angeles Sponsorship Fund Organization (WASFO) has been established to financially assist students who are active members of West Angeles Church of God in Christ. The following guidelines will be followed in the administration of the funds.
The purpose of WASFO is to award sponsorships to candidates who meet ALL of the eligibility requirements listed below. Funds are distributed based on contributions.
Candidate eligibility requirements for Continuing Undergraduates are as follows:
Employees of West Angeles Church of God in Christ are not eligible for sponsorship awards.
CANDIDATES MUST:Have graduated from high school between May/June 2017 – May /June 2020.
Currently be enrolled in a 2 year or 4 year undergraduate program at college or university. Students at a 2 year institution (Community College) must be at a minimum in their 2nd year. Those at a 4 year institution must be in their 2nd through 4th year. 5th year seniors are not eligible unless mandated by the institution or program.
Transfer students who meet the graduation year requirements are eligible if they are in their 2nd , 3rd or 4th year of college only.
Be a full-time student, enrolled in at least 12 units and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
Be a current member of West Angeles Church for a minimum of one (1) year.
The sponsorship award must be used for costs incurred to attend the candidate’s stated educational institution.
It is highly desirable that candidates be active in the West Angeles Young Adult Ministry, and when possible attend Tuesday Night Bible Study. (*Contact the Young Adult Ministries at (323) 733-8300 ext. 2610 for class times and locations.)
It is highly desirable that candidates volunteer as follows (but not limited to): Within the Children, Youth and/or Young Adult Ministries, or the Education & Enrichment Ministry at West Angeles Church; and during WASFO season as requested for verbal or videotaped announcements and working the WASFO table.
All eligible candidates may apply by completing an application. All application materials must be submitted in one complete packet. INCOMPLETE PACKETS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.
APPLICATIONS POSTMARKED AFTER THE SEPTEMBER 30th DEADLINE DATE WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.
Sponsorship monies will be awarded by WASFO after PROOF OF ENROLLMENT and CLASS SCHEDULES have been submitted to the WASFO Board. **Students should not depend on sponsorship funds for initial registration/tuition fees or book fees.
Candidates awarded sponsorships will be notified by official letter emailed from the WASFO Board.
Unclaimed funds remaining at the close of each fiscal year will be returned to the general sponsorship fund and cannot be redeemed after June 30, 2022.
