5 Reasons We Put "Less Emphasis" on AP Class Test Prep!
AP English Classes are taught with a curriculum based on passing the AP Test. In fact, colleges will accept the credits as elective credits only and not to replace mandatory Freshman writing and 'University 101" that teach how papers are to be written in college. The same is true for other AP Classes like AP Calculus, for example.
We heartily recommend COLLEGE credits from a 2-Year College while in HS - which I know from reading college applications as a guest reader for a major selective private college and UC is a process also highly respected and "noticed" by UCs and selective private colleges.
We find that AP Testing, which has a relatively low "pass" rate causes a lot of stress for high school students at a time when they are needing (especially in the current situation) to relax either for finals or to enjoy their Senior year (smiles).
12th Grade AP test scores are not considered quantitatively in the college admissions process. The scores come out in July - well after the May 1st National Decisions Day. In earlier HS grades, and the 1st semester of 12th Grade, their grades (not scores) in AP courses SOMETIMES is.....depending on the college.
Certain aspects of our optional SAT Essay Prep, Summer Bridge MS and HS writing program already contain aspects of the preparation for the AP English Test. (Note: These do not contain the Literature and newest Social Justice expression components of the test at this time.)
